David Stewart
Engineer

David Stewart is a Professional Engineer, licensed in Washington State and New Zealand.  Having studied in New Zealand and worked in the fields of structural engineering and geotechnical engineering, David settled comfortably into the role of general contractor, working for large civil contractors in the diverse field of infrastructure projects.  His experience includes hospitals, hotels, commercial projects, waste water treatment plants, bridges, elevated highways and post-war redevelopment work.

Two decades ago, David stumbled into the field of construction defect consulting and alternative dispute resolution.  He has accrued a long history of trial and arbitration testimony, depositions, mediations and settlement of construction disputes.  He understands that “. . . it doesn’t matter how thin you slice it, there’s always two sides”.  Understanding this philosophy, David has successfully brought astute repair procedures and cost estimating skills to the settlement table on a multitude of disputes.  “The best dispute is the one you can look at through your rear-view mirror”.

Without doubt, David is most comfortable in the trenches, helping to avoid the disputes he has so frequently helped to resolve. In the capacity of Owner’s Representative/Construction Manager, he brings essential knowledge and confidence to the Owner’s organization, ensuring a fair deal all around.”
